Articles 20VN | Relationship Selling Demands Commitment if You ...

Is your business goal to increase sales? Then why are you not having as much business success as you envision? Maybe, your commitment or the commitment of your sales staff is not at the level demanded by relationship selling.

A wise man who also happens to be one of my mentors by the name of Ray Overdorff shared this story many years ago.

Would you agree that we have a multi-billion dollar diet food industry in this country? Answer: Yes

Would you also agree if we would do the following each and every day:

  • Walk 30 more minutes
  • Drink 8 glasses of water
  • Reduce our calorie intake
  • Avoid foods that put weight on us

That we would lose weight? Answer: Of course, we would. Then, why do we have this multi-billion dollar diet food industry?

The answer is commitment. People are not committed to doing what it takes to get the results that they want. They are looking for the quick fix, the easy way out.

Is selling any different? Are you looking for the quick sale, the easy sale?

How committed are you as a professional sales person or business owner to the goal to increase sales?

What would happen if:

  • Each day you made a commitment to make 10 extra phone calls?
  • Each day you made a commitment to make 2 extra appointments?
  • Each day you made a commitment to reconnect with 2 inactive clients?
  • Each day you made a commitment to reconnect with 2 loyal clients?
  • Each day you made a commitment to make today the best sales day ever?

Today's business world is all about relationship selling. This is why formal business networking groups have exploded. People in spite of all the technology still want to buy from people that they know and trust. Your commitment to working those relationships will determine your business success and if you achieve that goal to increase sales.
