Persistent Pursuit. | HeartSupport

What is the key to the SUCCESS of any relationship?

My name is Jesus and I am friends with Jake, and he asked me to write some thoughts on the topic of relationships. I am 26, and have been working in the Corporate IT industry for almost three years now. I have interacted with many different types of people and relationships are something I am extremely passionate about.

I will share ONE POINT that is thematic to every type of relationship whether it be family, friendship, or intimate.

PURSUIT.

?an?effort?to?secure?or?attain;?quest; GO AFTER?

In life, if you ever want to truly excel at anything, you must be in continual pursuit. Why do people end up going to college? To learn and become educated on the profession they wish to pursue. Why do people go to grad school? To get better at what they are pursuing. Why do people continue to learn and hone new skills pertaining to their profession? Because to be the best, a consistent pursuit of growing and developing is essential.

So how can my relationships excel?

PURSUIT.

How would your girlfriend or spouse like it if you said, ?I love you, and if anything changes, I will let you know.? That would cause some serious relationship problems. Why? A woman wants to be continually PURSUED.? Being reminded, told, shown, and demonstrated depicts there is consistent love, care, and value.

Ok, so how does that apply to a family member or friendship?

When you continue to pursue a friend, or a family member, you make them feel special. When you call them and simply ask, ?How are you doing?? That question alone makes someone feel that they were on your mind, and that you ACTUALLY care. It is simple.

Something I do to continually pursue people that I love is PUT A REMINDER IN MY CALENDAR. I make it an EVENT that is recurring. I see it every week. So I keep checking in and continue building my relationships with family and friends. This avoids the ?It has been so long since we have spoken.? Or the ?Oh my gosh, I am so sorry I haven?t called you in forever.?

I simply put in my calendar ?Call Kyle today.? Taking five minutes out of your day to call a friend and tell them you were thinking about them, or asking them how they are doing, is an easy way to build long last friendships. Don?t wait for them to initiate. You do it.

PURSUIT.
