American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 52 acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. Under the direction of the Evening Reference Librarian and the Director of Library, the Access Services Librarian will be responsible for providing assistance to patrons and the College community, effectively and efficiently keeping the library in operation, and supervising of evening circulation work study students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
? Supervise evening shelving of materials.
? Supervise all work study student circulation activities and operation of circulation desk during evening hours.
? Provide work/study students with projects and tasks related to serials and general circulation activities.
? Assist in managing student worker policies, schedules and budgets.
? Assist in student worker evaluations including documentation and delivery.
? Provide access and supervise use of library facilities, equipment, and resources
? Supervise use of facilities, equipment, and resources.
? Assistance with seeking information
? Maintain and communicate all lost & found items for library.
? Maintain and communicate all study room reservations and statistics.

Duties essential to effective and efficient library operations including, but not limited to:
? Close all aspects of the library including, but not limited to, counting the money, locking doors, shutting down computers and lights and dismissing patrons.
? Supervise all aspects of patron activity counts including but not limited to keeping hourly, weekly and semester-long statistics.
? Maintain a neat and orderly library facility.
? Supervise and monitor use of copiers, computer printers, computers, microfiche readers and other library equipment.
? Monitor all patron activities and report unauthorized use of facilities or abuse or resources.
? Occasional help at circulation desk.
? Communicate daily with rest of staff via First Class.
? Communicate with AIC community/other libraries as needed.
? Schedule shift changes during holiday/exam time.

QUALIFICATIONS

The qualified candidate will have a Master?s degree in Library and Information Sciences, library and MLIS experience, interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

WORK HOURS/SCHEDULE

The Access Services Librarian position is full time, exempt position limited to 35 hour per week. Review of application will begin immediately. This is a (9) nine month position and will end on June 31, 2012. This is a benefit eligible position.

Normal working hours are: Sunday through Thursday 3:00 pm. to 11:00 pm.
