Do you think it's wasteful having more than one gaming console ...

I currently own both an Xbox 360 as well as a PS3. The first one I've owned since January this year, while the second I bought 3 months ago on a whim on a special (mainly because of the exclusives I saw I was missing out on). During these last couple of months however I've realised that owning more than one gaming console is just too wasteful for me, mainly because of my lack of time. So I recently decided I'd sell my 360. I was going to do it, but, I stopped myself, because I realised I had just gotten too connected to the darn thing (have a reasonable library of games, a fighting game controller, a carry case, etc). I just felt like I had put too much effort into it to sell it.Now I feel guilty for wanting to keep them both, mainly because the country I live has a 30%+ joblessness rate AND also because I'd really like to purchase myself a big screen HD TV (I currently play games/watch movies on an SD TV), but, as you have guessed, I feel guilty for wanting to purchase that as well, because then I feel like I'd just have too many luxurious things, while there are people around me who don't even have ONE gaming console OR a big screen HD TV.What do you guys think? I don't expect some of you guys in the more privileged countries to understand this, but this is how I was raised after all (on a farm, with a lot of poor farm workers who we regularly empathized with and helped out when it came to food, clothes, toys for their children, etc.)
The PS3 has a blue-ray player and the xbox has better overall online play and games. If you sold the PS3 you would prolly get more money and overall satisfaction, considering Xbox360's online makes it a far better gaming console.
I don't know what country you are from but if you use both consoles then there is no waste. At the end of the day, you work so you can buy things you want. I have lived in countries during depressions and when there have been times with high unemployment and even if there is high unemployment at the moment, you work hard to ensure that is not happening to you. There are always jobs available but often people won't do them because they are beneath them. When I used to be a chef I once had to take work washing dishes because that was all there was at the time. Most people I know will say no to doing that type of job as they were managers or office workers. This contributes to the figures. I say if you want a new TV and both consoles then you should get them if you have the cash as you have worked hard and earned them.
For some people, two gaming consoles is not a major waste. They get plenty of use out of both because of exclusives and different gaming networks. For some people, it is.You probably earned what you have, but it's fine if you want to share the wealth. Find somebody you know who doesn't have so much, and give one of your consoles to them. That way, you don't feel like you've just given up on it, you've just made sure that it's getting plenty of use in good hands.I live in the USA, the land of excess and privilege. There's plenty of people here who still understand the idea of pitching in to the community, helping your neighbors, and sharing wealth. Good to hear you were raised that way too.
In my opinion, no your are not wasteful or greedy for owning more than one gaming console. We live in a free country, therefore you are allowed to spend your money on what you wish. I don't see a reason why anyone should judge you for owning two gaming consoles. Yes, some people are much more fortunate than others when it comes to money and daily life, but that's just the way life goes. It would be a great honor to donate to those who are less unfortunate and not spend your money on a second gaming system or an HDTV, but it is your decision and no one should judge you because of it.
Before I answer, I live in the UK where there is a massive unemployment rate, you may call it a privilidged country but it isn't anymore for the majority of the people who live there.First, to answer your question it isn't wasteful if it's something you really love. I personally am a massive fan of gaming and I love to play games even with a small availability of time that I have. However, I have the same problem as you, I actually don't play certain games. It isn't wasteful if you will play them, I work my *** off to buy the consoles and stuff that I like, so how is it wasteful?I can't say that I can vouch for where you live since obviously there is a massive difference in the country you live in and what not.But think about it this way, you may have lot of games whilst others don't in your country but a lot of people in the same position as you will be doing what you do but with a different item or medium e.t.c.Of course you could sell your xbox 360 that you worked hard to get and that gives you happiness, or you could sell it and give the money for charity, since doing anything else with your money would just do the same as what would happen if you sold it to buy a HD TV. If you sold and kept the money, you would just be a guy who has some money. If you don't play your xbox at all, then it does make sense to sell it on and get the TV you want, but if you are using it a lot then there isn't much point since you will regret selling something you worked hard to build up over the years.Take my answer as you must, obviously I'm from a 'priviledged' country, but I think I have answered this well.
